June Outing to Emerald Beach and Woopi

The weather for this Thursday's outing is predicted to be like this!

The two garden destinations for this month's outing are fantastic ones and quite different from each other.

Margaret's garden at Emerald Beach has a very large area and it is literally brimful of plants....... she is a true plantswoman and just CANNOT resist unusual plants. I have yet to see Marg go into a nursery or plant fair without making a purchase or two. If you are into unusual plants and want to know if they will grow successfully in our climate, this is the outing for you! Margaret is also very, very generous with her knowledge and if you'd like advice on a particular plant she will be only too pleased to help you out.

The second garden, Peg's is a stalwart garden of the district. She has entered (and been very successful) in the CHGC Spring Garden Competition over many years. Peg's garden is full of plantings too - you will find a repeat palette of colour and cultivars here, with the Camellias and Azaleas real standouts. Around the flat area and visible from the back of the house is where Peg grows her potted colour with the wonderful backdrop of her permanent shrubs. What can't be missed is the Hoya on the tank, I have never seen a better one. If Cacti and succulents push your boat, Peg has a really good collection on her Northern veranda.

So folks, this is a terrific outing and not to be missed. Carpool at the Botanic Garden at 9:30am and travel up the highway to Emerald Beach OR if you live up the north, join the rest of the throng at 10am at Margaret's (77 Emerald Heights Drive, Emerald Beach).

After Peg's garden the outing will lunch together at the Seaview Tavern - the Pub at the top of the hill in Woolgoolga.

It might be an excellent opportunity to visit the headland at Woolgoolga and drink in one of our most stunning vistas on the Coffs Coast.  As the whales are moving up the coast it's a great vantage point for whale watching too.

Have fun folks and enjoy your outing.
