President's Message - November 2014

What a busy, but enjoyable year the Club has had.  Thanks very much to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve everything we have done during the year.

Christmas is, of course, fast approaching and the Club will be having a break over the holiday season, the first meeting for 2015 being the 21st Feb.  I hope everyone enjoys this time and comes back refreshed and full of stories about the massive pumpkins you’ve been growing, or the beautiful flowers that I know you all have in your gardens.

Gardening is a great pastime, not least because absolutely everyone can give it a go.  That is certainly reflected in the diversity of gardening interests within our club – and there is always someone in the club who will know the answer if you have a query!

I have tried this year to ensure we have plenty of gardening content in our meetings, and I would really like to see even more in 2015.  We also get some great gardening ideas from our visits to gardens around Coffs— a big thanks to everyone who opened their gardens for us during the year.

This is the 100th edition of the Club Newsletter, which if my calculations are correct, equates to 16 years that the newsletter has been informing and keeping us up to date (newsletters used to go out only six times a year, rather than the eleven times they do now).  I’m not sure what happened before 1998, but I do know that what we receive each month is a valuable source of gardening information, as well as giving us all the information we need to get the most out of our CHGC membership.  So, a big “well done” to all the people who have contributed as editors for the Newsletter over the years.

Last, but not least, I hope to see you all at the Christmas party - if you haven’t already RSVP’d, the details are on page 7 of this newsletter.  There’ll be some great food, great company, plenty of prizes to be won, and a really   special Santa will be making a call during the festivities.
