At the meeting held on 19 November 2013 the Constitution of the Club was changed. Our scheduled monthly meetings will now be held on the third Saturday of each month.

The membership welcomed this change as it was felt that we needed to open up to a wider section of our community the opportunity to attend the meetings of the Coffs Garden Club.

The very first meeting for next year will be held on 16 February 2013, 1.30pm Botanic Garden, Hardacre Street, Coffs Harbour.

Wednesday, 24 October 2012

A special meeting will be held at the Botanic Gardens, Hardacre Street, Coffs Harbour on Monday 19th November 2012 at 1.30pm (Prior to the General Meeting) to discuss:

Rule 10.    General Meetings

A General Meeting will be held on the 3rd Monday of each month.

Proposed Alteration: Moved Margaret Crawley seconded Ray Chippington:

That the general meeting will be held on the 3rd Saturday of each Month.

Holding the meetings on a Saturday will enable a wider section of the community to attend and take part in the activities of the club.

There have been many working people who have indicated they would be interested in joining the Garden Club, but at the moment are unable to do so as they are committed to work.

With the changing economic circumstances people are remaining in the workforce longer and are unable to join in recreational organizations such as the Garden Club until their retirement, which is now occurring much later.

Your attendance at this meeting is important as it affects the future of the club.

Gardens Open this weekend

Results are in for the 2012 Spring Garden Competition. Garden Clubs of Australia Judges, Chris Ryan and Pat Brinkley, did an excellent job of appraising such a diverse and extensive list of gardens. Look for the Advocate article where you can read some comments from them on the Coffs gardens.

This weekend 22/23 September the winning gardens are open from 10am-4pm so keep an eye out for the banners.  Please look for the entire list in The Coffs Coast Advocate also featuring lots of articles and photos of the winners and their gardens.

The dry conditions recently have really been the best thing for Azaleas - these photos were taken by Helen on a recent Club Outing and they show just how wonderful Azaleas can look!

Zone Day at Woolgoolga

The Garden Clubs of Australia Zone Day held at Woolgoolga was a delightful day with many Clubs being represented from our zone.

Myles did an excellent job representing our Club and he's seen here talking with Peg, from Woolgoolga who is a very successful entrant in the Spring Garden Competition. Peg is all 'geared' up to once again enter her large garden in the competition. We wish you the best of luck - entries close 7 September at 5pm.

Fundraising a success

There may have been gale force winds, however our BBQ was a success! The Club now has the funds to support the Coffs Harbour Spring Garden Competition.

Some happy people, just love those shades!

It was touch and go there on a few occasions when it looked as if our canopy would be atop the Bio-mass plant! Not to be daunted though, some members threw themselves 'on the line' so to speak, to grasp the supports and just HUNG ON until the wind gusts abated.

The early morning crew

The trusty cook - what a great effort cooking over 700 snags!
A big thank you goes to the members who contributed in making this such an enjoyable and successful day.
